MUMBAI: The government of Maharashtra issued Covid-19 safety guidelines for restaurants and other restaurants on Saturday that were allowed to reopen as of October 5.
Hotels, food courts and restaurants can operate Monday at 50 percent of their seating capacity.
According to the guidelines, customers should be screened at the point of entry for coronavirus symptoms such as high temperature, cough and cold.
Only asymptomatic clients will be allowed to enter.
In addition, it will be mandatory to wear masks, except when eating, the guidelines said.
Clients must follow social distancing while waiting for service.
Visitors’ consent must be obtained to share their details with health and administrative authorities for activities related to contact tracing, the guidelines said.
Hand sanitizers should be available and payment via digital mode should be encouraged, while precautions should be taken during cash transactions.
Restrooms and hand washing areas should be cleaned regularly.
Plexiglass screens or similar barriers should be erected at counters where interactions with customers occur frequently, per the guidelines.
Also, there must be separate entry and exit points.
CCTV cameras on the premises should be fully functional and only cooked foods should be included on the menu and raw or cold foods such as salads should be avoided, per the guidelines.
Furniture should be disinfected daily, the guidelines added.
