The AIIMS medical board has ruled out the murder in the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, calling it “a case of hanging and death by suicide,” the first institute’s chief coroner, Dr. Sudhir Gupta, said on Saturday. In its conclusive medico-legal opinion to the CBI, the six-member team of forensic doctors has dismissed the accusations of “poisoning and strangulation” made in the case of Singh’s death.
“It is a case of hanging and death by suicide. We have submitted our conclusive report to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), ”said Dr. Gupta, who is also the chairman of the medical forensic board.
There were no injuries to the body other than from the hanging. Also, there were no signs of fighting and skirmishing, he said, but he declined to release further details, stating that the case is subjudicial. The 34-year-old Rajput, who made his big screen debut in the acclaimed “Kai Po Che” seven years ago, was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai suburban Bandra on June 14.
The CBI had taken over the investigation by Bihar police into alleged complicity in the suicide case brought by the actor’s father, KK Singh, in Patna, against Rajput’s girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, and her family. Earlier this week, the central investigative agency had said that it had reached no conclusions about the Rajput death case and that all aspects were under investigation.
