Three people have been arrested for the murder of a 14-year-old Dalit girl who was found dead in a field with her head broken.
The three were arrested on Thursday and have been identified as Kundan, Collector and Prince, all residents of Gopiganj in Bhadohi. They have confessed to their crime, according to police.
The Bhadohi police spokesman said there was enmity between the girl’s family and the defendant and the defendant had threatened the victim’s family with dire consequences on Monday.
The defendant found the girl alone in the field on Thursday and killed her.
Her brother, who went looking for her, found the body in the field. Police said her head was smashed with bricks.
Ram Badan Singh, Police Superintendent, said: “The girl’s head was crushed with stones. Post-mortem report is expected. “The girl was a resident of the town of Chakrajaram Tiwaripur, in the area of the Gopiganj police station. The family has expressed suspicions that she was killed after a sexual assault. However, the rape It can only be confirmed after the post-mortem report.
A team of forensic experts and officials from the criminal branch have also arrived in the village to collect evidence and investigate the matter.
The murder of the 14-year-old comes after the Hathras incident, where the 19-year-old was allegedly raped and strangled. Police have now denied that she was raped despite the victim saying in a video message that she was sexually assaulted.
On Tuesday, hours after the death of Hathras’ victim, a 22-year-old Dalit student was also raped and ill-treated in the Balrampur district. She died on the way to the hospital.
On Thursday, two underage girls were raped in the Bulandshahr and Azamgarh districts of Uttar Pradesh.
In Azamgarh, an 8-year-old girl was reportedly raped by her 20-year-old neighbor in the Jiyanpur area.
“We received a report of rape with a minor on Wednesday. A case was immediately registered. The accused, a Danish man, has been arrested. He lives in front of the girl’s residence and he used to visit her house regularly, ”said SP Sudhir Kumar Singh.
In Bulandshahr, a teenage girl was allegedly raped by her neighbor in a town in the Kakore area on Wednesday night. Santosh Kumar Singh, SSP of Bulandshahr, said: “On the basis of her father’s complaint, a case has been registered. The accused Rizwan has been arrested ”. IANS
