After a long wait for SUV lovers, Mahindra finally launched the all-new second-generation 2020 Thar today. With all the details of the 2020 Thar already in the public domain, Mahindra revealed the price of the SUV in India. The cult off-roader was unveiled on August 15, and all the details and features of the SUV have already been revealed, except for the price. Not only was the Thar pricing revealed, but Mahindra also began accepting reservations for the SUV after launch.
Prices for Mahindra Thar AX variants start at ₹9.8 lakh, rising to ₹12.2 lakh, all ex-showroom prices.
Pricing for Thar’s luxury-focused LX variants start from ₹12.49 lakh for the hardtop gasoline convertible and up to ₹12.95 lakh for diesel.
Mahindra Thar’s first unit sold at auction at a huge price ₹Rs 1.10 crore and the winner was Akash Minda from Delhi.
The new 2020 Thar comes with all new exteriors and interiors. The Mahindra SUV would feature BSVI-compliant gasoline and diesel powertrains mated to six-speed automatic and manual transmissions.
Reports suggest that Thar 2020 will be available in three versions, as opposed to the two trim options previously revealed.
The diesel variants would be powered by a 2.2-liter engine, while the gasoline versions would come with a new 2-liter powertrain.
While the diesel engine will generate 120 hp of power, the gasoline Thar will have an output of 150 hp of pulling power.
The new Thar comes with a hardtop, a first-in-class convertible top and an optional soft top. It also has new seating options: 4 forward-facing seats and 2 plus 4 side-facing seats.

Deliveries of the 2020 Mahindra Thar are expected to begin in late October.
