Unlock 5.0: Delhi Maintains Status Quo, Allow More Weekly Markets | Delhi News


NEW DELHI: The Delhi Disaster Management Authority has issued an order to maintain the status quo regarding allowing more relaxations under Unlocking 5.0 in the capital until October 31 or more orders. The central government has allowed the opening of multiplex cinemas with 50% capacity, swimming pools, schools and entertainment parks as of October 15 and for the states and territories of the union to open, a decision will have to be made and formal orders issued.
The DDMA will make a decision on allowing all of these relaxations before October 15 after reviewing the current Covid-19 situation. Under Unlock 5.0, the weekly markets have more relaxation and now two markets can be organized in each zone daily instead of just one before. Now, 24 weekly markets are allowed in Delhi every day. The Delhi government had requested Deputy Governor Anil Baijal, who is the head of the DDMA, to allow all the weekly markets in the city to function, but LG rejected the proposal, sources said.

“The Covid-19 situation in Delhi has been reviewed and it has been decided that the status quo regarding prohibited / permitted activities (including probationary activities) can be maintained in Delhi until October 31 or until further orders, as come first, “an order, signed by Chief Secretary Vijay Dev, as chair of the DDMA state executive committee.
The order further stated: “It has also been decided that the opening of two weekly markets per day per zone may be allowed in the three municipal corporations / New Delhi municipal council / Delhi Cantonment Board instead of one weekly market per day per zone”. Weekly markets operate according to a standard operating procedure developed by the government.
A complete lockdown will be maintained in all containment zones in the city. Instructions were issued to district magistrates and other field authorities to ensure compliance with the DDMA order.
The Center has allowed cultural / social / religious and similar functions with 200 participants after October 15, but the DDMA has yet to make a decision on giving more relaxation in the number of participants in social / cultural functions and the like. A decision can be made before mid-October.
“It is further ordered that all social / cultural / sports / academic congregations and other large congregations will continue to be banned throughout Delhi. However, a maximum of 50 people is allowed in marriage-related gatherings and a maximum of 20 people at the funeral, ”stated the DDMA order.
The Delhi government wants to allow all economic activities permitted by the Center, except schools, colleges and educational institutes. The government will allow educational institutions to open only when it is satisfied with the safety of students. Delhi is one of the most open cities in the country with shopping malls, markets, hotels, gyms, bars, yoga centers, liquor service in bars, dining services in restaurants and most other permitted economic activities. Almost all economic activities will resume if the DDMA allows all the relaxations allowed by the Center.
