FIR against Rahul, Priyanka and 200 other Congressional workers in Noida | India News


NOIDA: Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar Police said on Thursday that it filed an FIR against Congressional leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and around 200 other party workers under the Epidemic Diseases Act for failing to maintain social distancing and do not wear face masks.
The FIR was filed under sections 188 of the Indian Penal Code (disobedience to an order duly promulgated by the public servant), 269 (illegal or negligent spread of infection of any life-threatening disease), 270 (malign act that can spread infection from a life-threatening disease) and under section 3 of the Epidemic Disease Act, police said.

“Some party members have also been booked for participating in a fight during which some police officers were injured while tearing the uniform of a deputy inspector,” Gautam Buddh Nagar police said in a statement.

Rahul Gandhi arrested on the way to Hathras

Hours earlier, around 200 congressional workers, including senior party leaders, had started a march on the motorways of Greater Noida after their convoy was stopped near Pari Chowk. The two Gandhi brothers and some 150 party workers were briefly detained by police and later released on personal bail, a senior officer told PTI.
