Hathras protests: Congress President Rahul Gandhi has claimed that he was mistreated by UP police while on his way to Hathras to meet the family of the Dalit girl who was allegedly raped last month and succumbed to injuries on Tuesday. Today, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi were to meet the victim’s family in Hathras but were detained by the police in Greater Noida. Both Congressional leaders started walking towards Hathras, but again stopped on their way on the Yamuna Highway in Greater Noida.
In a video posted by Congress on his official Twitter account, Rahul Gandhi can be seen marching as UP Police personnel try to arrest him. A 20-second video released by Congress shows police personnel pushing Rahul Gandhi back as he tries to advance with his followers around him. Some members of the police staff with lathis can also be seen at the scene.

Speaking to reporters there, Gandhi claimed that the police pushed him and accused him with violence. “Right now the police pushed me, carried me and threw me to the ground. I want to ask, can only Modi Ji and RSS walk in this country? Can’t a normal person walk? Our vehicle was stopped, so we started walking, ”said the former president of Congress.
#JusticeForIndiasDaughters pic.twitter.com/Q9BcUcxTOv

Congress later said it was a fight for justice and will not stop with bullets. “Nothing will stop those who fight for justice. No bullets, no batons, not even tyrants, ”Congress said in a tweet.
“Violence is the weapon of the weak, non-violence that of the strong.”

Priyanka Gandhi said that everything that happened to her and her brother was fine, but what happened to the girl’s family was a shame. “Those who talk about religion in everything did not let a father light her little girl’s pyre … this is their deal … this is an injustice,” Gandhi said while speaking to reporters.
