After news broke of the death of the gang-raped Dalit woman in Hathras, Kangana Ranaut expressed her grief and demanded justice for the deceased victim through her Twitter account. The actress had called for a solution to contain the growing number of shameful gang rapes and assaults.
A day later, the Manikarnika actress said she has immense faith in UP CM Yogi Adityanath, and wanted speedy justice similar to the murder of the defendant in the Hyderabad gang rape case last year.
“I have immense faith in @myogiadityanath ji, how Priyanka Reddy’s rapists were shot to death in the same place they raped her and burned her alive. We want the same emotional, instinctive and impulsive justice for #HathrasHorror #HathrasHorrorShocksIndia”, Kangana tweeted.
A 19-year-old Dalit girl from the village of Hathras died in a Delhi hospital two weeks after being brutally tortured by four upper caste Hindus. The horrific incident has triggered shock waves and jolts of anger across the country. Various citizens, including politicians and celebrities from various walks of life, have expressed their anger online.
In the Hyderabad gangrape and murder case last year, the four defendants were brought to the scene of the crime, about 60 kilometers from Hyderabad, for reconstruction as part of the investigation. According to the police, one of the defendants signaled to the others, possibly to escape, and they tried to snatch the weapons from the police personnel when they shot them and were allegedly killed in the cross-shooting.
