Hathras gangrape: BJP deputy Hans Raj Hans wants strict action against officials responsible for hasty cremation


Delhi BJP MP Hans Raj Hans demanded on Wednesday that the Uttar Pradesh government, led by his party leader Yogi Adityanath, take “strict action” against officials responsible for the hasty cremation of the victim of the gangrape of Hathras.

In a letter to UP Chief Minister Adityanath, Hans also requested that his government ensure that justice is served for the victim and that no one dares to commit such an act in the future.

“Clarification should be sought from the officers who without the consent of the family rushed their daughter cremated at 2 AM (Wednesday). If any officer is found guilty, strict measures must be taken against him, ”he wrote.

Hans, who represents the reserved constituency of northwestern Delhi, also said in the letter that the Hathras gangrape “shocked” him and the entire country, and that he hoped the culprits would receive “a lesson” so that a message to the whole country. that no injustice against women will be tolerated.

The 19-year-old Dalit woman died in a Delhi hospital on Tuesday morning, days after she was raped by four men in Hathras.

The woman was transferred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi from Aligarh on Monday after her condition showed no signs of improvement.

She was ganged on 14 September and seriously injured, after which she was admitted to the AMU Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital in Aligarh.

The four defendants have already been arrested.

The woman’s body was cremated in Hathras in the early hours of Wednesday morning, and her family alleged that local police “forced” them to perform the last rites in the dead of night.

Local police officers, however, told PTI that the cremation was carried out “according to the wishes of the family.”

The Uttar Pradesh police took the victim’s body and members of his family to the state from the hospital on Tuesday night.
