Deadline to submit ITR for AY20 extended to November 30


NEW DELHI : The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Wednesday further extended the last date to file ITR for the 2019-20 fiscal year (2018-19 fiscal year). The date has been extended from September 30 to November 30, 2020. The IT department, in a statement, said the decision was made after further consideration of the genuine difficulties that taxpayers face due to the Covid situation. -19.

In a tweet from its official name, the Income Tax Department said today: “Following further consideration of the genuine difficulties taxpayers face due to the Covid-19 situation, CBDT further extends the expiration date for the supply of late and revised ITRs for the evaluation year 2019 -20 from September 30, 2020 to November 30, 2020. Order u / s 119 (2a) issued “.

The last date to file tax returns for AY 2019-20 was extended for the fourth time in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. First it was reviewed until June 30, then July 31 and later until September 30.

How to file an ITR online?

  • Open the Income Tax Department web portal – incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
  • Then you have to register yourself if you haven’t registered yet
  • Users can register to file ITR using their permanent account number. The PAN will serve as the user ID
  • Once logged in, select the ITR submission option
  • To select the evaluation year, you will be redirected to a new page. Now select the AY from the drop down menu, then with the ITR form number 1 and the filing type: original or revised declaration
  • After this in the shipping mode, you need to click on ‘prepare and ship online’

After completing this process, you will need to select a bank account. This is the bank account where you will receive the tax refund.

Meanwhile, the CBDT has issued refunds of more than 1,18,324 crore to more than 33.54 lakh taxpayers between April 1 and September 29, 2020, the Income Tax Department said today.

IT rebates from Rs 32,230 crore were issued in 31,75,358 cases and corporate tax refunds from Rs 86,094 million have been issued in 1.78,540 cases, the statement read.

The CBDT is the main tax body on personal income tax and corporate tax.

Note: The deadline to file ITRs for the 2020-21 fiscal year (2019-20 fiscal year) is November 30.
