One day after the 19-year-old Dalit woman, who was allegedly raped and murdered by four upper caste men in Hathras of Uttar Pradesh, died. at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath formed a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday to investigate the crime. Adityanath has asked the team to submit a report within seven days and said a fast-track court will begin hearing the case.

“They will not let go of the culprits of the Hathras incident against the girl. An SIT has been formed to investigate the matter and will submit a report within seven days. To ensure early justice, the case will be heard in fast track court, ”Adityanath tweeted.

The move was reportedly taken after Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with the Prime Minister and ordered him to ensure strict action against those responsible for the incident. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi told me about the Hathras incident, said that the strictest measures be taken against the culprits,” Yogi added.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that the SIT will be headed by Interior Secretary Bhagwan Swaroop and will have UP DIG Chandraprakash police and Agra PAC commander Poonam as members.

The woman succumbed to her injuries two weeks after being attacked while helping her mother in the field. The victim’s body was cremated shortly after 3 a.m. Wednesday, and her family said police had performed the last rites of force late at night even though they wanted to bring her body home one last time. . “It seems my sister has been cremated; the police don’t tell us anything. We begged them to let us take her body inside the house one last time, but they didn’t listen to us, ”the woman’s brother told The Indian Express at 3.30 am on Wednesday.

The victim was initially admitted to a district hospital 15 days ago with a severed tongue and severely injured spinal cord, among other serious injuries. She was later transferred to Aligarh Hospital for treatment, before moving to Safdarjung Hospital in the national capital. Police said the victim had been dragged into a field and trapped in a ganglion. They had also strangled her with her dupatta.

Four upper caste men from the women’s village in Hathras district, who were charged with gangrape and attempted murder, in addition to the SC / ST (Prevention of Atrocity) charges, they have been arrested.

They were detained based on a statement provided by the victim on September 23, when he briefly regained consciousness. She had accused three men, Sandeep, her uncle Ravi (35) and her friend Luv Kush, of committing the crime.

Security has already been tightened outside Safdarjung Hospital, where activists from Congress and the Bhim Army were organizing a protest over the gang rape of the woman. Meanwhile, members of the Delhi Mahila Congress also staged a protest in Vijay Chowk demanding justice for the victim.
