SC refuses to postpone civil service exam

NEW DELHI The Supreme Court of Justice on Wednesday refused to postpone the preliminary examination of the UPSC civil services, to be held on October 4, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and flooding in various parts of the country.

A court of Justices AM Khanwilkar, BR Gavai and Krishna Murari asked the Center to consider granting one more chance to those applicants who do not show up on their last attempt for the exam due to the pandemic.

He also declined to consider the clubbing request of the 2020 UPSC civil services exam with the 2021 exams saying “this will have a cascading effect.”

The bank was listening to a request to postpone the Civil Services Exam for two to three months, so that the incessant floods / rains recede and the COVID-19 curve flattens out.

The Union Public Utilities Commission (UPSC) objected to the statement saying that all necessary precautions were taken and proper arrangements were made to conduct the examination.
