The Supreme Court, hearing the petition for postponement of the civil services exam, asks the petitioners to be polite and persuasive if they expect relief from UPSC

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court told petitioners seeking to postpone the civil service exam to be “polite and persuasive” if they expect relief from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

The comments were made by the Supreme Court tribunal after the petitioners’ attorneys said that the UPSC is “bent on conducting examinations.

“They have a duty to carry out the exam. You have to be polite and persuasive if you expect any relief from UPSC, ”the court said.

The petitioners argued that the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) is an unprecedented and extraordinary situation since they advocated postponing the exams.

The court then said that the UPSC has asked state authorities to prepare for the transport of candidates.

The UPSC has already told the high court that it has incurred expenses of more than 50 million rupees to conduct the 2020 civil services (preliminary) exam scheduled for October 4.

In an affidavit filed Tuesday, the commission said any further delay would result in a great loss to the public treasury.

Several reviews conducted by the Commission have already been postponed, but the 2020 Civil Service (Preliminary) Exam (CSP) was crucial to filling vacant positions in government services, the Commission stated.
