The maximum impact of Covid-19 has been felt by women, children and adolescents, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Tuesday.
When participating in a program on maternal, newborn and child health via video link, Vardhan said his ministry issued guidance to states to ensure that women, children and adolescents continue to receive all health services, according to an official statement.
“We are in a constant dialogue to ensure that these services are available to women, children and adolescents and remain focused despite the fact that health systems are under great pressure due to the COVID epidemic,” she said in the statement.
“From instilling behavior change to help more women deliver in hospitals to being entitled to absolutely free services, we have come a long way to provide quality care during pregnancy and delivery with interventions like LaQshya and midwifery care. ”Said Vardhan.
“The idea is to have a fully responsive and accountable healthcare system that not only results in a positive birth experience, but also helps end preventable maternal and newborn deaths,” she said.
He mentioned that India is in transition “towards a phase of moderate levels of maternal mortality and analyzes have shown that many of the maternal deaths occur due to delays in the timely provision of comprehensive obstetric care” that could have been avoided.
He also spoke about protecting primary health care workers from the pandemic.
“We have taken actions to create a safer work environment for our COVID warriors through the uninterrupted supply of essential logistics, personal protective equipment and we also provide life insurance coverage for people dedicated to COVID and health services. “We have also been waging a vigorous campaign to celebrate Corona warriors and address the stigma and discrimination that have been associated with this disease. I would say that this is not the effort of a single department, it is actually a complete governmental approach that is helping us to get to the last kilometer ”. The event was co-organized by the White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) and Every Woman Every Child (EWEC). A recurring theme this year was the effort to protect the hard-won gains in reproductive, maternal and child health from the COVID pandemic. PTI PLB ABH ABH
