Kangana Ranaut had a good eye for fashion even as a child, but back then she was “laughed at”. She took to Twitter to share photos of her journey from being considered a ‘village clown’ to sitting in the front rows of London, Paris and New York fashion weeks.
The first image shared by Kangana is one from her childhood, in which she is seen posing in a knee-length floral dress with a pearl necklace around her neck and thigh-high socks. The second photo is a close-up of her as an adult, smiling. In the third photo, she is seen wearing the same clothes as in the second photo and sitting in the front row at a fashion event.
“When I was a child, I decorated myself with pearls, cut my hair, wore thigh-high socks and heels. People laughed at me. From being a village clown to attending the front lines of the London, Paris and New York fashion weeks, I realized that fashion is nothing more than freedom of expression, ”he wrote.
In the past, Kangana has also shown support for local stores. Last year, she was seen wearing a saree worth Rs 600 that she collected in Kolkata.

Kangana’s sister and manager, Rangoli Chandel, had shared a photo on Twitter and had written: “On the way to Jaipur today, Kangana is wearing a 600 rupee saree that she chose from Kolkata, she was surprised to learn that you can get such good cotton organic in this amount, and it’s heartbreaking to see how hard our people work and how little they earn … Please support our people before international brands take this away from them too #Indianweavers.
On the labor front, Kangana was filming for Thalaivi de Vijay, a biopic about the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa, when the coronavirus pandemic struck. He also has Tejas by Sarvesh Mewara, in which he plays an Indian Air Force pilot, and Razneesh Ghai’s Dhaakad in the pipeline.
