Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar tweeted to confirm the news on Tuesday: “I am pleased to report that renowned international film personality #ShekharKapur has been appointed as President of the FTII Society and President of the Governing Council of FTII. @ Narendramodi. @ Shekharkapur “.
“Mr. Kapur, who has vast experience, will add more value to the Institute. I am sure everyone will appreciate his appointment,” he added.

Kapur’s mandate will last until March 3, 2023.
