Virat Kohli said you can have Kerala food later, focus on cricket for the next 10 years, says Sanju Samson

Rajasthan Royals hitter Sanju Samson has been in excellent shape at IPL 2020, and has been a key member in the two victories the team has recorded this season.

Coming to the crucial No. 3 position, Samson has been the player around whom the Rajasthan Royals are looking to build their tickets. This, of course, is a huge compliment to a young hitter, with players like Steve Smith and Jos Buttler on the team.

The 25-year-old Kerala hitter recently spoke about a conversation with India captain Virat Kohli, which changed his perspective on fitness.

Samson said this was during a gym session with the Indian cricket team, where he saw Virat Kohli train and asked how he maintains such high fitness standards.

“When I was in the gym with the Indian team, I was there with Virat bhai. I asked her what her training routine is and how she puts so much energy into fitness.

“I kept asking him so many different questions. Then he asked me ‘Sanju, how many years are you going to play cricket’, so I told him that I am 25 years old now and that I can play for another 10 years or so.

‘Kohli told me that I can do whatever I want after 10 years’

“Then Virat told me, after 10 years you can do anything, you can eat Kerala food and whatever else you want to do, but you won’t be able to play cricket after these 10 years. So why don’t you give everything, whatever you have, to cricket in these 10 years? ”.

Samson said this was a kind of revelation to him. Although he was already very dedicated to his practice, what Virat Kohli said only made him want to work harder.

“So it really changed my perspective, my dedication to cricket. I was already very dedicated, but this made me change my mind even more, ”added Samson.

Sanju Samson has been in excellent form this IPL and has scored 159 runs in just two innings.

In Rajasthan Royal’s first game against the Chennai Super Kings, he scored 74 runs of 32 balls on a four and nine sixes and set the pace for the other hitters to play around him.

In his next game against KXIP, he shined with 85 runs of 42 balls with four fours and seven sixes.
