Aspiring actor Akshat Utkarsh was found dead in his rented apartment in Mumbai’s Andheri, police said today.
The 26-year-old was found dead in his room by his friend who shared the apartment with him Sunday night, an official from the Amboli police station said.
According to the woman, she and Utkarsh were chatting until 11 p.m., after which he entered her room while she went to the bathroom. From the bathroom window she found her body hanging, said an official quoted by the PTI news agency.
No suicide note was found at the scene, but preliminary investigation revealed that Utkarsh was struggling to find work in the film industry and was forced to borrow money from friends to survive in the city.
Police said his body was handed over to his family after the autopsy.
She had arrived in Mumbai two years ago and had been sharing the flat with her friend for the past six months, police said.
An accidental death report was registered and further investigations are underway, said Senior Police Inspector Someshwar Kamthe of Amboli Police Station.
