In his tweet, Tharoor called Samson the “next MS Dhoni,” a description that didn’t sit well with former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir and Kerala closer S Sreesanth.
Sreesanth, in a response to Tharoor, said Samson is not the “next Dhoni” and should have been part of the team since 2015.
“He is not the next Dhoni. He is @IamSanjuSamson the only one. He should have been playing since 2015 regularly in all formats,” Sreesanth wrote.
“Please don’t compare him, if he had given the right chances then he would have been playing like that for India and would have won world cups … but,” Sreesanth added.
Meanwhile, Samson, after his tremendous performance against the Royals, opened up to a frustrating 2019 in which he found himself on and off the team. “I think I’ve been hitting him well for the last year. So I’m in the right frame of mind. I can see a change in my game and my fitness, ”Samson told host presenter Star after the game.

“I was really sick of myself last year. I had tried very hard but things were not happening. So I really came back to myself, did a bit of soul searching and really asked myself a lot of different questions. Like, ‘What do I want to achieve in my life?’ and ‘Where do I want to go until I finish my cricket career?’ “
“I decided that I have ten more years to play this wonderful game, so I decided to give my all for cricket and nothing more. My family, my friends and everyone is very supportive and I am very happy to be giving all my energy to cricket, and that is giving me back, ”said Samson.
