PM Modi will inaugurate today 6 mega projects in Uttarakhand under Namami Gange | India News

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate six mega-projects in Uttarakhand on Tuesday under the Namami Gange mission through videoconference.
It will also unveil the Jal Jeevan Mission logo at 11 am today via video conference. He will release guidelines for GPs and Pani samiti for the implementation of the Jal Jeevan – Har Ghar Jal Mission, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Projects include the construction of a 68 MLD STP, the upgrade of the existing 27 MLD at Jagjeetpur in Haridwar and the construction of an 18 MLD STP at Sarai in Haridwar.
“The inauguration of the 68 MLD Jagjeetpur project also marks the completion of the first sewer project adopted in the hybrid annuity model of PPP. In Rishikesh, an STP 26 MLD will be inaugurated in Lakkadghat, “the PMO statement read.
Noting that the Haridwar-Rishikesh area contributes around 80 percent of the wastewater load to the Ganges River, the PMO said that the inauguration of these STPs will play an important role in keeping the Ganges River clean.
“In Muni ki Reti city, the 7.5 MLD STP in Chandreshwar Nagar will be the first 4-story sewage treatment plant in the country where limited land availability became an opportunity. The STP was built in an area of less than 900 square meters, which is about 30 percent of the usual area required for STP of such capacity, “he said.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate one STP of 5 MLD in Chorpani and two STP with capacities of 1 MLD and 0.01 MLD in Badrinath.
The 30 projects (100 percent) were completed in Uttarakhand for the pollution care of 17 Ganges villages near the Ganges river, which is a historic achievement, the PMO said.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate “Ganga Avalokan”, the first museum in Ganges dedicated to showcasing culture, biodiversity and rejuvenation activities carried out on the Ganges River.
The museum is located at Chandi Ghat, Haridwar.
A book, ‘Rowing Down the Ganges’, co-edited by the National Mission for Clean Ganges and the Indian Wildlife Institute, will be launched at the event.
