NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad and IIM in Calcutta are the best B schools in India and globally have secured the 20th and 21st positions respectively in the Financial Times Masters of Management ranking ( MIM) released Monday.
There are three more Indian B schools in the world top 100 list. IIM-Bangalore and SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) in Mumbai shared position 36, while IIM Udaipur was in position 72.
FT MIM Rankings is seen as a global benchmark in the world of B-Schools and a full-time two-year master’s degree in management programs around the world. The FT MIM 2020 ranking is the sixteenth edition of the ranking. These are calculated using two separate surveys, one completed by participating business schools and the second by alumni who completed their master’s programs in 2017. FT considers criteria such as alumni career advancement, salary, diversity, and international experience and research for classifications.
After IIM-A and IIM-C, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China ranked 23rd in 2020, a drop of nine positions from last year. Although IIM-Calcutta fell four spots to rank 21st globally, IIM-A moved up one spot in 2020 from the previous year.
While IIM-Bangalore jumped eight spots this year, IIM Udaipur jumped four.

IIM Udaipur, Second Generation IIM said it ranks first in India for value for money and career progression among schools ranked by FT MIM. It also obtained a fairly high ranking (9.09) in the general satisfaction criteria, very close to IIM-A and IIM-C.
“We have gone our own way. The relevance of the curriculum, a high degree of industry integration, and a strong focus on values education and experiential learning have set us apart. The FT ranking places a lot of emphasis on the performance of graduates in the industry and therefore is a validation of our approach. We will continue to learn, innovate and improve, “said Ranjan Banerjee, dean of SPJIMR.
Globally, the University of St Gallen (Switzerland), HEC Paris, Essec Business School (France), London Business School and Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (Netherlands) were chosen in the top five in the MIM ranking.
