Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 featured with drop-resistant case and waterproof S Pen

Samsung listened to customer feedback to create the perfect tablet for workers in the field. The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 comes with a sturdy casing that allows it to withstand drops from 1.5 meters (5 feet). Even without the case, it should survive a 4 ft (1.2 m) drop to a flat surface.

IP68 dust and water resistance ensures it can work rain or shine. The 8.0 ”LCD screen is designed to be operated with gloves, but if the gloves are too thick, then the IP68-rated S Pen can be used to navigate the user interface.

The Galaxy Tab Active3 works with the Exynos 9810 chipset (also known as the Galaxy S9 / Note9 chipset). It is paired with 4 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of storage, expandable with microSD cards. The tablet runs Android 10 with DeX mode for a desktop experience along with Knox security protections.

Biometric authentication is done with the fingerprint reader or facial recognition. There is a 5 MP front camera for video calls, as well as a 13 MP camera on the rear for general photography.

A desktop is not the natural habitat for this tablet. It has a 5,050 mAh battery that the user can change on the fly. Also, it can be docked thanks to the pogo pins (or using normal USB when available).

The board has a “No Battery” mode, which can be toggled from the settings. This allows it to be used as a stationary kiosk without degrading the battery. Third-party plugins can be used to scan barcodes or add mPOS functionality.

This tablet and the Galaxy Xcover Pro phone will receive three major operating system updates, which is an important consideration for businesses, which generally use computers longer than consumers.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 is available starting today in select countries in Europe and Asia; availability in other regions will be announced later. There is a Wi-Fi-only version (with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity), as well as an LTE model.
