Burning Tractor Shows Public Anger

Amarinder Singh made a rare public appearance today amid the pandemic.

Chandigarh, Punjab:

Punjab’s Chief Minister Amarinder, who held a sit-in today against the three controversial agricultural laws, attacked the central government and asked, “Why is the MSP (Minimum Support Price for Agricultural Products) not part of the projects of law?”

Speaking to NDTV, he said that the burning of a tractor in Delhi this morning “shows the anger of the people.” “It shows how people feel … their anger. Farmers don’t know who is going to buy (their products) from them.”

Earlier, while holding a protest in the ancestral village of freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh, he had supported the protester while speaking to journalists. “If it’s my tractor and I want to burn it … what’s your problem?” he said.

Punjab has become the epicenter of protests against the three laws linked to the agricultural sector amid widespread protests. Amarinder Singh is the country’s chief prime minister who has participated in an agitation to express his discontent against the center.

Today, when he made a rare public appearance amid the pandemic, he told reporters: “ISI (Pakistan’s intelligence agency) is always looking for potential recruits. My government has been in power for three years; about 150 terrorists have been arrested and 700 guns Punjab had been silent for some time … now they (central government) did this (passed farm laws). If you take food from someone, won’t they get mad? Will they become a target? of the ISI. “

“What they (the central government has done) is anti-national,” said Captain Amarinder Singh. The Chief Minister of Punjab held a sit-in at Khatkar Kalan.

On Sunday, he said his government will see if Punjab can amend state laws to protect farmers from the consequences of the three controversial laws. “We are already consulting with legal and agricultural experts, and with all those affected by the dire legislation of the central government, to decide the future course of action,” Amarinder Singh said in a statement.

Today, amid attacks by political opponents, he told NDTV: “” Agriculture is a state issue. They have already taken my GST. I’m not here to break the law. My legal team is just looking at the options. ”

President Ram Nath signed three bills: the 2020 Agricultural Trade and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, the 2020 Farmer Agricultural Price and Services Guarantee Agreement (Empowerment and Protection), and Kovind’s Essential Commodity Bill (Amendment) Sunday into law.

While critics say that farmers will lose bargaining power with the entry of private actors into the agricultural sector and will not get a minimum price support for their products, the government has said the new laws will help small and marginal farmers.
