Ranbir Kapoor was once thought to be a womanizer, but those days are long gone. Happily he has established a relationship with Alia Bhatt. Their romance grows stronger day by day; They have adapted perfectly into each other’s families and are rumored to be planning to take it to the next level soon and get married.
On Ranbir’s birthday, here are some trivia about his first meeting with Alia, more than a decade and a half ago. Did you know that if things had been different, they would have thrown themselves together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Balika Vadhu?
At the 2017 Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards, Ranbir revealed that he even did a photoshoot with Alia for Balika Vadhu, and has been a ‘fan’ of her ever since. She said that she enjoyed her performance on Imtiaz Ali’s Highway and was impressed by its range of emotions.
“I remember going to meet my friend and I said, ‘She’s like Amitabh Bachchan, she’s a good actress.’ At such a young age, she’s doing a great job, it’s quite amazing. I’ve been a fan of Alia before she became an actress, ”Ranbir said.
Alia chimed in, “What you said is just correct. I think I was 11 when I met Ranbir, who used to help Sanjay Leela Bhansali back then. I had to do a photoshoot with him. I was so shy because I had to keep my head on his shoulder. And I couldn’t do it, because it was a very shy moment for me ”.
Calling Ranbir a ‘great supporter of (his) career, Alia added: “I have always been a Ranbir loyalist since Saawariya and he has never changed.”
Interestingly, Alia has been fairly consistent with her affection for Ranbir. She admitted to being in love with him during her appearance on Koffee With Karan in 2013, and even said she wished to marry him. She also recalled their awkward interaction on the phone shortly after Rockstar’s launch in 2011.

Alia said: “I remember the first time I spoke with Ranbir. You (Karan Johar) called him when Rockstar had just come out and said, ‘Here, talk to Ranbir. Tell him how much you love him. ‘ And I spoke so much nonsense. I was talking non-stop and he said, ‘Yeah, that’s really nice, Alia.’
“Obviously, I dated him after that, and I still think he’s really adorable. And I still want to marry him, ”she added.
Ranbir and Alia reportedly began dating sometime in late 2017, when they signed together on Ayan Mukerji’s supernatural drama Brahmastra. A few months later, they made an entrance together at Sonam Kapoor’s wedding reception and let the cat out of the bag.
Speaking to the Hindustan Times, Ranbir had said in 2018 that he was not hiding his relationship with Alia, but that he did not want conversations about his personal life to dominate the headlines. “Honestly, I’m not playing hide and seek. I am in a happy, positive and beautiful stage of my life. But you can talk about your personal life only up to a point. Otherwise, it becomes the forerunner of your life and your work takes a back seat, ”he said.
“There is always enthusiasm to know someone’s personal life. But you must respect the relationship so that people don’t smear it in a gossipy way. It is something beautiful, sacred and really important to you, so you should treat it in a nice way, “he added.
