Nicholas Pooran produced an impressive outside save for Kings XI Punjab against Rajasthan Royals in the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) meeting in Sharjah on Sunday. Pooran’s daring feat received high praise for his fielding, with legend Sachin Tendulkar calling it “the best save I’ve ever seen.”

It all happened when the West Indies showed a brilliant presence of mind and darted over the limit rope and denied Sanju Samson a certain six in the eighth inning of Rajasthan.

Chasing a whopping 223 run goal, Samson drew a shorter one from KXIP’s Murugan Ashwin. Pooran threw himself into the air as he pulled the ball from nearly six feet into the rope.

“Pooran just produced one of the biggest fielding saves I’ve ever seen. That was almost two yards over the rope and pulling it back … Wow! Where will this field standard take us? ”Harsha Bhogle wrote on Twitter.

Here is the must see video:

Their effort brought a standing ovation and a greeting from KXIP field coach Jonty Rhodes.

Here are some of the other reactions to the capture:

Previously, Nicholas Pooran hit 25, not just eight balls, as KXIP finished 223/2 in 20 overs. Mayank Agarwal and their Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul were the stars with the bat as the duo beat the Rajasthan Royals bowlers into submission.

Former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop added to the praise, writing: “Nicholas Pooran just made one of the great saves in the game of cricket. Incredible awareness. “
