Former Union Minister Jaswant Singh died on Sunday. He was 82 years old.
He died at 6:55 a.m. today of cardiac arrest at Delhi Army Hospital, where he was admitted in June, the hospital said in a statement.
Tributes began pouring into Twitter shortly after with Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he “left a strong mark on the world of finance, defense and foreign affairs” in a tweet.

Jaswant Singh, who was from Rajasthan, had served as Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Defense and Minister of Finance. He was an Army officer in the 1950s and 1960s, but then resigned to pursue politics.

Congress leader Siddaramaiah tweeted his condolences on the death of Jaswant Singh

Rajasthan Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday condemned the death of former trade union minister Jaswant Singh.
Jaswant Singh died earlier today in a Delhi hospital.
“My condolences on the passing of Rajasthan’s top leader and former trade union minister, Shri Jaswant Singhji,” Gehlot tweeted.
He prayed for the peace of the deceased soul and for strength for his family members and followers.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also mourned the death of Jaswant Singh.

Lok Sabha President Om Birla also tweeted his condolences and said he was saddened by the death of the former Union minister. He expressed his condolences to the Jaswant Singh family.
