Karan Johar’s 2019 party video is unrelated to Bollywood drug investigation, says NCB official – bollywood

An official from the Bureau of Narcotics Control (NCB) has cleared up rumors about the investigation of the video of Karan Johar’s 2019 party as part of his investigation into the alleged Bollywood drug nexus. The official said the video is not under scan.

Speaking to reporters, Mutha Ashok Jain, NCB’s deputy general manager, said the video has nothing to do with the present case. The video in question showed moments from Karan’s house party with a few Bollywood stars, including Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, and others. The clip went viral after multiple social media users shared it, believing the stars appeared to be intoxicated by drugs.

Recently, with the Bollywood drug problem becoming a topic of national debate, former Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa had filed a complaint with the NCB, asking the agency to investigate what he alleges was a ‘party of the drugs’.

Sharing her letter to NCB boss Rakesh Asthana, Sirsa said she met with him and asked him to launch an investigation into the video. “I met Sh. Rakesh Asthana, Head of @narcoticsbureauat BSF Headquarters, Delhi regarding the filing of a complaint for investigation and action against film producer @karanjohar and others for organizing a drug party at his residence in Mumbai Investigating the video of the party! ” he wrote.

Karan had previously clarified that no drugs were used at her party. “There were successful members of the industry who were having a quiet night after a hard work week, having a good time. I took that video with all seriousness … I would be taking that video if there was something happening, I’m not stupid, “he had said in the interview with Rajeev Masand.

“My mother, 5 minutes before this video, was sitting with us. It was that kind of happy, social, family gathering where friends were sitting and having a good time and we were listening to music, eating well and having good conversation energy there. Nothing else happened, ”she had said.

On Saturday, NCB also arrested Kshitij Ravi Prasad, who reportedly worked for Dharma Productions. In a statement on Friday, Karan had said that Prasad joined Johar’s Dharma Productions sister company Dharmatic Entertainment in November 2019 on a contract for a project that did not materialize.
