No link between alleged Karan Johar ‘drug party’ video and Sushant Singh Rajput case: NCB


The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) confirmed on Saturday that the agency is not investigating the alleged ‘drug party’ video posted by Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, adding that its focus is on the investigation related to drugs. drugs surrounding the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.

The video was posted on July 28, 2019 by Johar showing various Bollywood celebrities such as Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Vickey Kaushal present at the party that took place at his residence.

Later, Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa demanded an investigation into the matter of celebrity involvement in drug use.

On Saturday, during a press release, when NCB was asked if it planned to summon Johar because of the alleged ‘drug party’ video that has surfaced, Mutha Ashok Jain, NCB’s deputy general manager of the southwest region, said to the media: “No, there is no connection between this video and this case.”

There was speculation in the media that Johar could be summoned by the OCN in this regard.

However, Jain confirmed that no new summons have been sent to any other film personalities in the case.

On Saturday, Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan were questioned by the NCB.

Kshitij Ravi Prasad, a former executive at Johar’s production house, Dharma Productions, was arrested by the NCB on Saturday.

To date, Jain said, 18 to 19 people have been arrested in connection as part of the investigation into the death of Sushant, who was found dead in his Bandra home on June 14.
