The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Dharma Productions executive producer Kshitij Ravi Prasad on Saturday in connection with a drug case related to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, NCB officials said.
The NCB had detained Prasad on Friday for questioning in connection with an alleged drug nexus in Bollywood. In response to the development, Dharma Production owner and filmmaker Karan Johar on Friday night denied claims that Prasad is associated with the organization.
Johar had said that Prasad had joined Dharmatic Entertainment, a sister company of Dharma Productions, in November 2019 as one of the executive producers “under contract for a project, which ultimately did not materialize,” while Anubhav Chopra, who also he was questioned by the NCB. , worked with them on short-term projects between 2011 and 2013.
Earlier today, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone had appeared before the NCB for questioning in the case. Actor Rakul Preet Singh’s statement was also recorded yesterday by the NCB’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the case.
The NCB had launched an investigation into the drug case after receiving an official communication from the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), which was investigating the money trail related to the death case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In the investigation, many revelations emerged, including various talks related to the consumption, acquisition, use and transport of drugs.
The Emergency Department had recorded on July 31 a Compliance Case Information Report in the case of the late actor’s death after Rajput’s father KK Singh filed an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty in Bihar on July 28 .
