The Tripura government announced on Friday that the state schools will reopen for students in classes 11 and 12 starting on October 5.

Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that students who have the written consent of their guardians will only be able to go to schools.

The decision to reopen the schools was made by the government after a high-level meeting, chaired by the education minister, on Thursday.

Present at the meeting were the rectors of Tripura Central University and Maharaja Bir Bikram State University, directors of the Departments of Primary, Secondary and Higher Education and other officials of the Department of Education.

“The Ministry of Education had issued a detailed notice along with the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the reopening of schools as of September 21. Ten states across the country have already reopened schools. We have also decided to reopen schools.” Nath said. .

The minister said that 50 percent of teachers would attend schools every day in rotation and take classes.

For students in other classes, schools will be opened in a staggered manner after reviewing the situation, the minister said.
