Mathura, Uttar Pradesh: Just a year after the Supreme Court of India rendered the landmark verdict for Ram Mandir of Ayodhya, a new lawsuit has been filed in a civil court in Mathura to “claim” the entire Krishna Janmabhoomi in the temple city on the grounds that “every inch of the earth … is sacred to the devotees of Lord Shree Krishna and the Hindu community.”
Advocates Hari Shankar and Vishnu Jain have filed the lawsuit on behalf of the plaintiff ‘Bhagwan Sri Krishna Virajman’ in a local Mathura court claiming the 13.37 acre site of ‘Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi’ and demanding the removal of the Shahi Eidgah Mosque. which is located adjacent to the temple.
The lawsuit seeks the removal of the ‘invasion’ and the illegal ‘superstructure’ erected by the Mosque Committee with the consent of the Central Sunni Waqf Board. However, there is no mention of the Places of Religious Worship (Special Provisions) Act 1991, which has prohibited courts from initiating litigation over changing the status quo of a place of religious worship after 1947.
“It is a fact and story that Aurangzeb ruled the country from 1658-1707 AD and, being a staunch follower of Islam, had issued orders for the demolition of a large number of Hindu religious sites and temples, including the temple found in the birthplace of Lord Shree Krishna at Katra Keshav Dev, Mathura in AD 1669-70, “the lawsuit read.
“The Aurangzeb army managed in part to demolish the Keshav Dev Temple and the construction was forcibly erected showing the power of power and the construction was named Idgah Mosque,” he added.
Developmental reactions
In reaction to the development, BJP leader Vinay Katiyar has said that Mathura and Kashi must also be released after Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. “If necessary, a movement will be started to eliminate the Eidgah invasion and regain Krishna Janmabhoomi,” he added.
Meanwhile, Haji Mehboob called the civil suit absurd, citing Supreme Cout has categorically said that, except in the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid case, no guilty plea will be entered and will not be heard.
“It is absurd, as the Supreme Court has already said it in clear words that, apart from the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid case, no one will be able to sue for such a matter, be it Kashi, Mathura or anywhere in the country … The government itself has said they will not interfere, “he said.
These problems arise wherever there are elections in the country, he added.
