Anushree, TV presenter, questioned by Karnataka police in drug case

Anushree said police have not confirmed whether there will be further questioning.

Mangaluru:

Television host Anushree was questioned on Saturday in connection with a drug case involving dancer and choreographer Kishore Aman Shetty. Anushree, who appeared before police at 9 a.m., was questioned for three and a half hours, police sources said.

Anushree told the investigation team that he has known Tarun Raj, a close friend of Shetty’s, who is also charged in the drug case, for the past 12 years. He’d been doing dance choreography for her for six months.

The presenter said she had no ties to Tarun Raj on drug use and had not attended any parties with him, the sources added.

Speaking to reporters after leaving the police station, Anushree said that he had answered all the questions the investigation team asked him. She said she would come for further questioning if the police called her again.

Police have not confirmed whether there will be further questioning, he said.

“The drug mafia is a ghost that has haunted our state and the police are doing everything possible to eradicate the mafia. We will cooperate with the investigation,” he added.

Anushree was subpoenaed after Tarun Raj told police that she, too, had attended Shetty’s party.

DCP Vinay Gaonkar and Inspector Shivaprakash led the investigation team. The CCB state police are investigating drug abuse among the big shots, including those in the film industry, after the Bureau of Narcotics Control arrested three people from Bengaluru with a loot of drugs.

Apparently they were supplying drugs to actors and film singers in Kannada.
