DUBAI: While the internet is divided over batting legend Sunil Gavaskar’s controversial comments about RCB captain Virat Kohli, a former all-rounder, Irfan Pathan has now come out in support of the Cricket veteran.
In response to comments from actress Anushka Sharma that Gavaskar’s comments about her husband Kohli were ‘disgusting’, Pathan took to Twitter and posted a message for those who criticize the former cricketer.
In his tweet, giving advice to those who flood social media with forceful messages and calling out the legendary cricketer for his comment, Pathan wrote: “Always respect #SunilGavaskar, sir always.”

The controversy erupted after Gavaskar said, “lock inhone sirf Anushka ki bowling ki practice ki hai,” apparently referring to Kohli’s poor performance during a match between RCB and KXIP.
In response, Anushka Sharma responded to hitting legend Sunil Gavaskar, saying her comment about her and her husband Virat Kohli was ‘disgusting’.
Anushka Sharma took to Instagram to express her dislike for the same thing. She put a forceful statement on her Instagram story while asking him to explain why he was accusing her of Kohli’s failure.
Investigating Sunil Gavaskar, she also made it clear that she is sick of being dragged into cricket every time her husband is not performing.
Gavaskar, however, later clarified that he did not target Anushka. He cleared things up by saying that he was just talking about Virushka’s viral video where Anushka can be seen bowling with Virat.
