Mumbai:

Actor Deepika Padukone has come for questioning in an ever-widening drug investigation related to the investigation into the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. He was issued a subpoena along with other Bollywood actors, Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan, who will also be questioned today.

Deepika Padukone arrived for questioning this morning at the Evelyn Guest House at Apollo Bunder in Colaba, Mumbai, where the Special Investigation Team of the Office of Narcotics Control has established a base.

Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor are expected to be questioned at the OCN office on the Ballard Estate.

Ms. Padukone’s manager, Karishma Prakash, who was questioned on Friday, is likely to be called back today. Prakash’s interrogation lasted much longer than actor Rakul Preet Singh’s, which lasted four hours, sources said.

The NCB questioned Rakul Preet Singh and Karishma Prakash about the content of the WhatsApp chat that allegedly indicated that marijuana was purchased for consumption.

The growing investigation into Bollywood drug links began with the questioning of actress Rhea Chakraborty, three months after Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai home on June 14. During the investigation, names of various Bollywood personalities have emerged.

Sources at the Office of Narcotics Control, whose mandate is to go after the largest drug cartels and not individual consumers, have said that the agency was questioning Bollywood leaders to understand the supply network through the alleged consumers.

It should be noted that the actors have not been named as defendants in any drug investigation case and are only being questioned.

During her interrogation before the arrest, Rhea Chakraborty reportedly named stars such as Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh in connection with drug use. Her attorney has denied this claim.

Sara Ali Khan was also the co-star of Sushant Singh Rajput in the movie “Kedarnath”; Sushant Rajput developed the drug habit while filming the film, according to Rhea Chakraborty’s bail petition in Bombay High Court.

Sushant Singh’s family, through their advocate Vikas Singh, had expressed their displeasure at the direction of the investigation saying that “the NCB investigation is also going in the same direction as the Mumbai police investigation … calling large names for questioning just to get attention. “
