Filmmaker Karan Johar, late on Friday, took to social media to post a long story, denying that any narcotic substance was used during a party he organized in 2019. He also called the accusations “unfounded and false.” As the investigation into Bollywood’s alleged drug use intensifies, last year’s video showing a group of actors is up for discussion again. Former SAD MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa alleged that drugs were used at a party attended by stars such as Deepika Padukone, Malaika Arora, Vicky Kaushal and Shahid Kapoor, among others.
Karan began by saying that when the first accusation was made, he made it clear that no drugs had been used. He also targeted some media outlets publishing news about the video. He wrote: “Certain news channels, print / electronic media and social media platforms are misreporting that narcotics were used at a party that I, Karan Johar, organized on July 28, 2019 at my residence. I had already clarified my position in 2019 that the accusations were false. “
“In view of the current malicious campaign, I reiterate that the accusations are completely unfounded and false. No narcotic substance was used in the party.
I would like to reiterate unequivocally that I do not use narcotics and do not encourage or encourage the use of such substances.
“All of these defamatory and malicious statements, news articles and news clippings have unnecessarily subjected myself, my family, my colleagues and Dharma Productions to hatred, contempt and ridicule.”
Karan then addressed the issue of the emergence of two names, Kshitij Prasad and Anubhav Chopra, during the ongoing drug investigation, who have been treated as his “close aides” in some reports.
He continued: “I would like to further state that various media / news channels have been broadcasting news reports that Kshitij Prasad and Anubhav Chopra are my ‘helpers’ / ‘close helpers’. I would like to put on the record that I do not know these people personally and that neither of these two people is a “helper” or a “close helper.”
“Neither I nor Dharma Productions can be responsible for what people do in their personal lives. These accusations do not belong to Dharma Productions. I would also like to point out that Mr. Anubhav Chopra is not an employee of Dharma Productions. He was briefly associated with us for just two months as a second assistant director of a film, between November 2011 and January 2012 and as an assistant director of the short film in January 2013. Since then, he has never been associated with Dharma Productions for no other project. “
He added: “Mr. Kshitij Ravi Prasad joined Dharmatic Entertainment (sister company of Dharma Productions) in November 2019 as one of the executive producers under contract for a project that ultimately did not materialize.”
In 2019, Karan posted a video with a group of Bollywood celebrities at a party hosted by him. Sirsa had claimed that a video was proof that drugs were used there. After the appearance of a drugs angle in the ongoing investigation into the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput, he had once again analyzed the issue and has also filed a complaint with the Office of Narcotics Control.
