We will talk from A to Z, not just the southern shore of Pangong Tso

New Delhi: India has clearly told China that it will talk about the disconnect across all of Ladakh from the Depsang Plains to Pangong Tso, the sources said. India has also warned China that Indian soldiers will fire if PLA troops try to outnumber them, as in Galwan on June 15.

The sources said China is not ready to accept that it crossed the royal line of control (ALC) first and insists that talks should be held on disconnecting the southern shores of Pangong Tso, where India has occupied strategic heights.

However, India’s position is clear that “we will talk from A to Z” in Ladakh, sources said.

Sources said China had started breaking protocol after Doklam, which said no more than 15-20 soldiers will patrol LAC. But the Chinese army started sending a larger patrol consisting of 50-100 soldiers and this number kept increasing every year. These larger Chinese patrols used to push Indian teams. The PLA soldiers first started throwing stones and then brought in makeshift weapons like iron bars studded with nails to attack the Indian patrols.

“Now the Indian soldiers are directly warning the Chinese soldiers that we will shoot if they approach us to attack. Chinese soldiers have also understood that if they come in large numbers to attack Indian soldiers, they will suffer greater losses, ”said the sources. Sources confirmed that there have been many cases of gunfire on the Royal Line of Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh since India occupied strategic heights from August 29-30. A senior official said Indian soldiers used to carry weapons also previously, but have now been instructed that they can shoot in self-defense and in extreme conditions.

“Now we will not allow the Chinese to follow their old strategy of coming in large numbers with improvised weapons and attacking Indian soldiers,” the sources said.

The sources said that China is also preparing to stay in the Ladakh sector during winters. “We cannot believe everything China says. The joint statement is good, but whatever China says should also be reflected on the ground, ”the sources said. India’s position is that it was China that transgressed first and will have to withdraw first.
