New Delhi: The current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 amid the deadly coronavirus outbreak could be witnessing empty stands, but enthusiasm is high among cricket-crazy fans. Last night’s adrenaline match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kings XI Punjab saw some impressive punches from KL Rahul and disappointing knockdowns from Virat Kohli.
However, another highlight of the match was the nasty statement made by legendary player Sunil Gavaskar, who from the comment area mocked Kohli for dropping two crucial catches. As soon as he made comments about Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma, the internet erupted in reactions.

If you were referring to Anushka bowling with Virat in the confinement or on the other side and in the most controversial way, it is wrong to drag someone’s wife into this totally alien affair. Also, after being attacked for many years. #SolGavaskar #KXIPvsRCB

Lord Gavaskar, have you completely lost it or something? A high-level cricketer who says those things about anyone, much less about the ICT captain. Man, you lost all the respect we had for you.

I heard this live and the boy laughed. He has always been in the news for making some really unacceptable “joking” comments while in the comment box, but this is not right. Who gave him the right to drag someone’s family to him, regardless of the context in which he meant it? https://t.co/4MeFZNOdx4

This is so disgusting. The way they don’t forget to bring Anushka when she’s not acting is very dirty. In whatever context you said, this statement cannot be justified. It’s not funny at all. https://t.co/0uJXjaSijl

Twitterati criticized Gavaskar for his ‘unpleasant’ comment and demanded an apology for dragging Virat’s wife Anushka Sharma into the comment out of nowhere.
Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul achieved the highest individual score by an Indian in IPL history with a whopping 206/3 score in 20 overs. The RCB led by Virat Kohli was unable to counter Kings XI Punjab’s bowling attack as they suffered a dramatic collapse to finally be left out of 109.
