Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer says NCB should hand over drug case to CBIRhea Chakraborty’s lawyer in Bombay HC: CBI should investigate drug case; NCB has no jurisdiction for investigation

The NCB arrested Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, Sushant Singh Rajput’s home manager Samuel Miranda, and Dipesh Sawant staff on drug procurement charges. All of them are currently in judicial custody. Custody of the actress and her brother was also extended until October 6, 2020. Furthermore, the Bombay High Court also postponed their guilty plea hearing until September 29. Reports suggest that her attorney Satish Maneshinde has questioned NCB’s opinion on the matter.

He has alleged that the agency does not have jurisdiction to initiate the investigation. Maneshinde has told the court that the drug case should be investigated by CBI rather than NCB. For the unspoken, the HC has yet to pass any order on the bail statements filed by Rhea and her brother Showik. Instead, she suggested that NCB should file a response before Monday, September 28, 2020. The brother-sister duo had approached the HC before, but their bail requests were rejected.

Meanwhile, Maneshinde has further mentioned in court that CBI is empowered to investigate cases that fall under the NDPS law. Therefore, it says that NCB must turn over the investigation to the agency. Furthermore, she claimed that Rhea and Showik should not have been registered under Section 27A of the NDPS. On the other hand, Rhea Chakraborty had previously said in her bail statement that she paid for smaller portions of drugs allegedly used by Sushant Singh Rajput.
