Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday launched a unified portal called ‘U-Rise’ to guide students in learning, career guidance and obtaining employment in Uttar Pradesh.
Approximately 20 lakh students, receiving technical and vocational education, and technical experts will benefit from this portal. Students will be able to access the electronic content, electronic library, and online courses available on this portal, even in the innermost areas of the state.
Speaking at the launch, Yogi said the portal was part of the second phase of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Qualitative Reform Program launched in 2017 to achieve an improvement in the quality of technical education institutions.
In addition to launching the Unified Re-imagined Innovation for Student Empowerment (U-Rise) portal, the Prime Minister laid the foundations for new projects.
The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University has developed the portal, which is a joint initiative of the technical education department, the training and employment department and the skills development mission.
Yogi said this was the largest reform program in the education sector after the National Education Policy (NEP) -2020. She said the program would connect students with practical and technical knowledge, adding that UP was the first state to launch a unified portal in conjunction with the NEP implementation.
Yogi said the project would prove to be an example for other states, as the use of technology helped advance and address significant challenges. He said the Covid-19 challenge would have been more serious without the technology. He said that the state government was also using technology to identify and take action against fake teachers. She said that several people got jobs by providing false educational documents and that they were now being tracked through the use of technology.
Yogi said that the convergence of educators, employers and researchers through this portal would benefit students and empower them by providing them with as much information as possible, from online exams, digital content, digital assessment, digital exams, webinars, internships, library electronic, video content to employment.
The prime minister also released 100 million rupees for the second phase of the Deendayal Upadhyay Quality Improvement Program, which will be spent on the development of digital and physical infrastructure.
Under NEP, an academic credit bank would be established. The bank will digitally preserve the academic credits of educational institutions.
