Mimi was in the news recently, after a taxi driver was arrested in Kolkata for allegedly making lewd comments against the actress and politician while riding in his car. Mimi filed a police report against the driver at the Gariahat police station after which he was arrested.

The incident took place near the Ballygunge Phari area towards the Gariahat crossing. The defendant has been identified as Laxman Yadav, a native of Anandpore.
