Authorities at the Anti-Corruption Office in Hyderabad arrested a deputy police commissioner on Thursday, a day after conducting searches of his home that unearthed assets worth Rs 70 million, which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The ACB authorities took Yelamakuri Narasimha Reddy, currently working as an ACP in Malkajgiri under the Rachakonda Police Commissioner, before a special tribunal for ACB cases in the Nampally criminal court complex. After the medical examinations, he would remain in preventive detention.
According to an official statement from the CEO of the ACB, J Purna Chander Rao, the authorities of the ACB on Wednesday simultaneously searched approximately 25 locations in the city of Hyderabad, several locations in the districts of Warangal, Jangaon, Nalgonda, Karimnagar and also in the Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh. .
During these searches, authorities discovered documents showing that Reddy owned 55 acres of farmland in Anantapur, four parcels measuring 1960 square yards of land near Cyber Towers at Madhapur in Hyderabad, two other house parcels, a commercial complex. with four floors in Hafeezpet and two houses.
“The searches also found Rs 15 lakh in cash, two bank lockers and investments in real estate and other businesses at Reddy’s residence,” said the CEO.
He said that the ACB had conducted searches based on reliable information that Reddy had acquired assets disproportionate to his legal sources of income by engaging in corrupt practices and dubious means during his service as a public servant.
Searches continued late into the night Wednesday and officials examined and evaluated documents recovered from the police officer.
“The current market value of the properties detected by the authorities was around 70 million rupees,” the CBA official said, adding that a case of AD in this regard had been registered and was under investigation.
Narsimha Reddy, who joined the police department in 1991, had worked as a police inspector in Uppal, before being recently promoted to the rank of ACP and posted to Malkajgiri.
