2020 IPL points table and updated list of orange cap and purple cap – cricket

The Mumbai Indians have taken first place in the Indian Premier League points table after crushing the Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs on Wednesday in their second game of the season at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Rohit Sharma scored 80 runs to propel IM to a score of 195 while batting first. They then defended the total well and restricted KKR to just 146 runs. With that victory, they took two points in two games and defeated the Rajasthan Royals from first place due to a better Net Execution Rate.

On Tuesday, RR had taken the top spot in the points table after securing a 16-run win in its first game of the season against Chennai Super Kings. RR rode on a sensational 74-run hit from Sanju Samson and a late bloom from Jofra Archer to score 217/8 in 20 overs. Faf du Plessis scored 72 runs for CSK, but it wasn’t enough to chase the total.

Three-time IPL champion CSK came off the mark on the 2020 IPL points table following their five-wicket win over the Mumbai Indians in the opening tournament on Saturday. But after their loss to RR, CSK has dropped to fifth place.

On Sunday, Delhi Capitals claimed victory over Kings XI Punjab by virtue of a Super Over. The match was so close that at the end of the 40 overs, the score was identical. Delhi Capitals scored 157 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the first innings and Kings XI Punjab equaled that goal in the run chase. But the 2014 finalists were only able to score two runs in the Super Over and it was easily chased by DC. They are in fourth position.
