ONGC says fire under control; no casualties


Surat: Nearby residents Surat woke up to the sound of a huge explosion sometime after 3am to see the massive flames of Hazira ONGC.

The explosion was followed by a massive fire that could be seen from a distance. The fire started after the explosion between 3 and 3.15 in the morning. According to the main ONGC sources, the explosion took place in two terminals in ONGC Hazira, Surat. Is Hazira The ONGC pipeline in Surat is part of the 240 km long Bombay High.

A gas smell engulfed the area for about 10 km around the source of the fire, residents say. Many residents initially mistook the explosion for an earthquake.

ONGC in its official statement has said: “A fire was observed at the Hazira Gas processing plant this morning. The fire has been controlled. There are no victims or injuries to any person.”

In total there are a total of 24 terminals. All terminals and plants have been closed.

All Reliance, Kribhco, NTPC, Adani, Shell, LarsenToubro, GAIL, GSEG, GSPC and several other plants have been closed with immediate effect. Hazira Port is located on the banks of the Tapti River, 8 km from the Arabian Sea.
