The aim of these laws is to provide all kinds of facilities and a healthy environment for workers, Gangwar said, adding that in the past six years, the government has taken various measures for employees, such as increasing the period of maternity leave to 26 weeks, allowing women to work in the mining sector and the pension plan of small traders.
“With these steps we had begun to work for labor reforms,” ​​he said.
Presenting the draft laws on the codes for consideration and approval, the minister said the government has submitted the changes to the laws after extensive consultations with state governments and other stakeholders.
He said that about three-quarters of the recommendations of the permanent parliamentary commission, which examined the codes, have been incorporated into the bills by the government.
On Saturday, Gangwar introduced the 2020 Safety, Health and Work Conditions Code, the 2020 Industrial Relations Code and the 2020 Social Security Code.
More than 29 labor laws have been merged into four codes and one of them, the 2019 Salary Bill, has already been approved, according to the minister.
The Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, will consolidate and modify the laws that regulate the safety, health and working conditions of people employed in an establishment and related matters.
The Labor Relations Code, 2020, seeks to consolidate and modify laws related to unions, employment conditions in industrial establishments or companies, investigation and resolution of labor disputes.
The Social Security Code, 2020, will modify and consolidate the laws related to social security with the aim of extending social security to all employees and workers, whether in the organized sector or in the unorganized sector.
