The opposition boycotted the Lok Sabha session on Tuesday over the Center’s refusal to accept its demand for the withdrawal of agricultural bills passed by Parliament. Lawmakers also protested in solidarity with the eight Rajya Sabha members who were suspended for “misbehaving” with the Rajya Sabha vice president during the debate on agricultural bills on Sunday.
Opposition parties, including Congress, TMC, TRC and BSP, left the Lok Sabha, according to a report from PTI.
“They made us do it,” said Congressional leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in Lok Sabha as the opposition boycotted the house.
Lok Sabha Chairman Om Birla will meet opposition leaders including Adhir Ranjan Choudhary of Congress and Supriya Sule of the NCP at the Parliament premises after the parties boycotted Tuesday’s session.

The Upper House of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) on Sunday passed the two key agricultural bills: the Agricultural Products Trade and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, and the Agricultural Prices and Services Guarantee Agreement the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection), 2020, amid protests and uproar at home.
These bills have already been approved by the Lok Sabha and are awaiting the approval of the president.
The government says these bills will help boost the agricultural sector through private investment.
The opposition had shown its disapproval in the Upper House of Parliament against the suspension of MPs and the passage of these bills, and TMC MP Derek O’Brien accused the media that the opposition parties probably they would also boycott the Lok Sabha session.
