Ford Endeavor Sport launches as the most expensive variant in the Endy range
Ford launched the Ford Endeavor Sport Edition today in India at a starting price of INR 35.1 lakhs (ex-showroom). While the name includes the ‘Sport’ label, we would like to emphasize that it is not actually a performance-oriented model. Instead, the ‘Sport’ edition is similar to the ‘Dark’ or ‘Black’ editions that we have already seen on various cars and SUVs in the past.
What is special about the Sport edition?
Ford already sells the Sport edition of the Endeavor (or Everest) in multiple international markets. In most international markets, the Sport edition comes with visual updates, both on the outside and inside. However, the Sport edition for the Indian market misses out on the dark two-tone interior treatment that Ford offers in other countries. All we get is multiple visual exterior improvements that help the SUV to look sporty.
As is the case with most Dark / Black editions, the Ford Endy Sport Edition has multiple all-black elements on the exterior. These include an all-black honeycomb front grille, blackened alloy wheels, multiple blackened elements on the ORVMs, roof rails, front and rear bumpers.
That is not so special
Apart from the visual updates mentioned, the Ford Endy Sport Edition does not include any additional updates. The sporty trim is based on the Ford Endeavor’s top-end trim, the Titanium +. No changes in the list of functions compared to the standard Titanium + edge.
The list includes an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, 8-way power front seats, TPMS, cruise control, dual-zone climate control. , front parking sensors, hands-free, tailgate opener functionality, ESP, start / stop button, terrain management system and much more.
Under the hood, we can see the same 2-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that it produces 168 hp and 420 Nm of maximum torque. Transmission tasks are handled by a 10-speed automatic unit. A 4WD transmission configuration is offered as standard.
Competition
With the launch of the Endeavor Sport Edition, Ford clearly wants to attract more customers to its showrooms, especially before the upcoming holiday season. Speaking of competition, the Sport Edition will become a direct competitor to the Toyota Fortuner TRD Edition. Apart from the special edition, as before, the Endy will continue to compete with models such as the Mahindra Alturas G4, Toyota Fortuner and Isuzu MU-X.
