The Opposition assembly in Madhya Pradesh raised the issue of alleged mismanagement at dedicated Covid-19 private hospitals across the state and demanded effective measures to verify the same.
The assembly, in its monsoon session, met for a day on Monday in view of the Covid-19 situation and passed at least 10 amendment bills, a finance bill, and some other bills without any. discussion.
Congressional leader Govind Singh wanted a discussion on the finance bill, but parliamentary affairs minister Narottam Mishra urged protem chair Rameshwar Sharma not to allow a discussion while citing the unanimous decision made in the meeting of all parties before the session. On this, Opposition leader Kamal Nath said that members who wanted a discussion could put forward their views in writing which could be incorporated into the proceedings.
While Nath raised the issue of alleged mismanagement in private hospitals, the high-level MLA Congress KP Singh raised concerns about the large gatherings at the meeting held by the political parties.
Singh said: “The government has imposed a ban on religious programs and processions, but there are large gatherings on political programs regardless of the political party.”

Nath said: “There is a lot of mismanagement in private hospitals treating Covid-19 patients. We have received several complaints that even these patients were treated as Covid-19 patients who did not test positive for the infection. There should be an investigation into such complaints. There should be a complaint center where people can go and tell the authorities that they have been scammed. “
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in his response, said: “This pandemic is new to all of us. Nobody knew what the situation would be. There is no vaccine, but we are doing everything we can to control the disease. “
He said: “The situation was under control until there was a closure. But the blockade could not last an indefinite period. When the economy went bankrupt, the decision to unlock was made during which the virus has spread further. “
He said: “The state has reported 108,167 Covid-19 cases to date. But it is a satisfaction that the recovery rate is higher than 77 percent. There are 25,542 active cases in the state today. However, there are states that have 2 to 2.5 lakh of active cases. There have been 2007 deaths so far, that is, 1.89 percent of total Covid-19 cases. Madhya Pradesh is ranked 16th in the country. I’m not saying this is an achievement, but in the last six months we have strengthened our testing and treatment facilities comprehensively. ”
