Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a high-level virtual meeting tomorrow to discuss the coronavirus situation with top ministers from seven states. The meeting comes as most states in the country have witnessed an increase in the number of Covid cases in recent weeks.
The senior ministers of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, UP, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Punjab will attend the meeting.
The prime minister has held regular meetings to review the situation of the pandemic throughout the country. His last COVID-19 review meeting was on August 11 with top ministers and representatives from the 10 most affected states.

India, the second most affected country by the coronavirus in the world after the United States, has more than 55 lakh of cases, according to data from the Union Ministry of Health. With 75,809 new cases in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 count jumped to 55,62,663. The country’s single-day coronavirus cases had fallen below 76,000 on Sept. 8 as well, when 75,809 cases were reported. About 60 percent of the country’s active coronavirus cases are concentrated in the five most affected states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh.
