The 14-day judicial custody of actor Rhea Chakraborty, arrested on drug-related charges in the Sushant Singh Rajput case, ends today. In addition to Ms Chakroborty, more than 12 people, including her brother, have been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), which launched investigations into the link between Bollywood and drugs after the Rajput’s death on June 14. .
Ms. Chakraborty was arrested by the NCB on September 9 after three days of questioning in the drug abuse case. She was placed in preventive detention for 14 days after her arrest.
The NCB claims that WhatsApp messages retrieved from Rhea Chakraborty’s mobile phone indicate that she obtained medication for Rajputs. The agency had registered a second case based on 59 grams of marijuana seized from suspected drug traffickers.
Drug agency sources have told NDTV that the actor named actors Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan during questioning in the drug case. The agency is likely to call these actors for questioning this week, they said.
“During the preliminary investigation into the first recorded case based on Rhea Chakraborty’s retrieved WhatsApp messages, some names of other actors have been mentioned, including Sara Ali Khan and Shradda Kapoor. They will both be asked to join the investigation. this week, subpoenas will be issued soon, “an official involved in the investigation told NDTV.
Ms. Chakraborty, currently in Byculla Prison in Mumbai, has denied allegations made by the OCN that she is an active member of a “drug union”.
So far, the NCB has arrested more than 12 people in connection with the investigation into the angle of drugs in the case of the actor’s death.
Meanwhile, the NCB has summoned KWAN agency chief executive Dhruv Chitgopekar and Sushant manager Shruti Modi to join the investigation. Actor Deepika Padukone’s director Karishma Prakash, who works with KWAN, has also been cited, the official said. Former talent manager Jaya Saha, who was questioned for four hours on Monday, was also asked to report to the anti-drug agency today.
