One of the eight suspended MPs, Ripun Bora from Congress, told ANI: “Harivansh Ji said that he came to meet us as a colleague and not as vice president of Rajya Sabha. He also brought tea and snacks for us. We started this session at the. yesterday’s demonstration from 12 noon to protest against our suspension. We are protesting the problems of farmers and there will be no compromise on the interests of farmers. ”
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said: “We are here doing dharna, not a tea party and we all respect the vice president, but after dharna all MPs will invite him for tea in our House”.
The MPS was previously suspended by Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu for “rebellious behavior” with Vice President Harivansh Singh.
On Monday, Venkaiah Naidu announced the one-week suspension of MPs including Dola Sen from TMC, Ripun Bora and Syed Nasir Hussain from Congress and Elamaram Karim from CPM for “rebellious behavior” with Vice President Rajya Sabha on Sunday during the passage. of agricultural bills.
On Sunday, members of the opposition stormed the well and arrived at the vice president’s seat to protest against the 2020 Agricultural Products Trade and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill and the Agricultural Prices and Services Guarantee Agreement of the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) of 2020 and approved by the Upper House by voice vote.
